Q: How does it work?
A: This is usually the first question asked and the hardest to answer as each client’s experience is their own. However, counselling will look at the ways you perceive yourself and you how your thoughts, and feelings are influenced by your life to date. The person centred approach facilitates personal growth by allowing you to recognise, explore and utilise your strengths, how you view yourself in relation to others, and enabling you to have a better understand of yourself without judgement or criticism.
Q: Where in Salford are you?
A: Just off Lancaster Road, next to the East Lancs Road on one side, with Salford Royal and the M602 on the other. I am close to local transport routes with buses to the town centre and university easily accessible. View map
Q: What happens if I don’t know where to start?
A: I understand your concerns and can reassure you that there is no wrong or right way, Sessions are client lead, and I find that many clients express how much easier it is “talk” than they ever imagined.
Q: Who do you see?
A: Individuals, couples, children and young people, families. View services
Q: How much does it cost?
A: £48 for individual counselling, £65 for couples, intimate partners/relationships (Monday to Saturday).
(Sunday by arrangement).
Please don’t let this be a barrier to your accessing counselling, I want my sessions to be available to all so please contact me about availability of reduced price sessions to unwaged/low income, and/or student clients. View fees
Q: Will I feel better straight away?
A: Often clients feel relieved after one session, in just accepting their difficulties and accessing help. Progress is individual and lots of “work” (new thoughts and understandings) happens outside of the counselling session. I often forewarn new clients that due to the nature of the process, it isn’t unusual for things to get worse before they start to get better.
Q: How long do sessions last?
A: 50 – 60 minutes. Families may need longer by arrangement.
Q: How many sessions will I need?
A: Each client’s needs are unique, sessions aren’t prescriptive and there are no time limitations. Review takes place every 4-6 weeks.
Q: When can I come?
A: I have immediate appointments available throughout the week, and both Saturday and Sunday to suit.
Q: Is it confidential?
A: Yes, absolutely. The identity/concerns of clients will never be disclosed outside of the counselling/supervisory relationship.
(With the exception of the boundaries to confidentiality as explained in the contract to be completed at the first session).
